iPhone App for Car Guys

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

I'm as much of a car guy as the next gearhead.  I spend most of my days thinking about cars.  I'm also a gadget guy, and I love to tinker with my iPhone and the great treasure-trove known as the Apple App Store.  I've been depressed though about the quantity of decent automotive apps in the store, that is until now.

VIN Hunter is a VIN decoder and vehicle history application that does so much more.  It not only allows you to enter a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) and decode a vehicle, but it also gets an instant CARFAX record count!  You can learn while at a car auction or some dude's driveway that the car in front of you is a lemon... quick and easy.

You can also purchase a CARFAX report and access the new National Insurance Crime Bureau's web site to check on flood damage and stolen vehicles.  All in one app.  Oh, you can also add a photo and notes to each vehicle you record, to help you keep track of your findings.

So if you're an individual or a automotive professional looking for the best way to track and research vehicles be sure to check out VIN Hunter in the app store.  Also, check out their web site at
